MAPUSA: Guardian Angel Sports Club scored a thumping 5-0 win over Bardez Football Club in the Goa Professional League match, at Duler stadium, here on Saturday.

With Saturday’s win, Guardian Angel have 19 points from 16 matches while Bardez FC stays on 6 points.

Guardian Angel got the goals through Micky Vaz in the first half while Clifton Dias, Allwyn Vaz, Sunny Fernandes and Alson Oliveria were the scorers in the second half.

It was Bardez who started the proceedings brightly with Richard Cardoz testing the rival goalkeeper Ozen Silva in the first ten minutes with three attempts from long distance which did not cause much problem.

Bardez almost conceded a penalty in the 22nd minute but referee Ritesh Parsekar had a different view when Bardez defender Stephen Martin shoved Angel’s Allwyn Vaz inside the penalty box where in the process the player and keeper Elesh Shirvokar clashed and both had to receive medical attention.

Guardian Angel finally broke the deadlock in the 34th minute when Micky Vaz provided the finishing touches to a delightful pass by Precio D`Souza.

Bardez keeper Elesh brought an acrobatic save in the closing minute to deny Sunny Fernandes stinging grounder from crashing into the nets.

In the second half the first fifteen minutes saw the ball mostly restored to the midfield wherein only in the 66th minute Angel`s doubled their lead.

Precio`s long floater inside the danger box found Nicholas Rodrigues whose firm header was well stopped by Bardez keeper Elesh but the loose ball was not properly cleared by the defender which came to Cliffton Das who without wasting any time placed it home, 2-0

Angels were in a rampant mood and were only being kept out by Bardez keeper Elesh who blocked Micky Vaz and Nicholas Rodrigues cracking shots in finding the target.

It did not take long as Angels scored three goals in a span of six minutes first Allwyn Vaz finishing of a move started by Clifton and then Sunny Fernandes found the nets with a low grounder to make it 4-0.

Substitute Alson Oliveira completed the rout with a well-directed header from a decent free kick delivered by Nicholas into the penalty box, 5-0.
