Holy Spirit PY clinch 7-a-side Parish Youth football title

MARGAO: Hosts Holy Spirit Parish Youth, Margao defeated Our Lady of Remedios Parish Youth, Betalbatim 3–1 to clinch the first All Goa 7-a-side Parish Youth Football tournament organised by Holy Spirit Parish Youth Margao and held at Holy Spirit Church ground, Margao, recently. 

Striker Velito Miranda opened the account for Holy Spirit and scored in the fifth minute off a pass from Hasten Fernandes. 

Later in the twelfeth minute, Velito Miranda doubled the score with a power-packed shot that beat the Betalbatim goalkeeper Rhys Rebello hands down.

 Arnold D'Sa and Anthony Fernandes’ moves to score were thwarted by alert goalkeeper of Holy Spirit Youth Bryan Fernandes.

At breather, Holy Spirit Parish Youth, Margao led 2–0.

Changing ends, Holy Spirit Parish Youth scored once again through Malcon Fernandes who headed in the nets from a corner-kick taken by Sarineo Miranda. 

In the dying minutes of the match, Constancio Miranda scored the lone goal for Betalbatim Parish Youth off a free-kick to take the final score to 3–1.

Holy Spirit Parish Youth received cash prize of Rs 15,000 and trophy while Our Lady of Remedios Parish Youth, Betalbatim were awarded Rs 10,000 and a trophy.

International footballer and Coach Clifford Miranda and Fr Savio Pinto were the chief guests and gave away the prizes in the presence of Holy Spirit Parish Priest Fr. Avinash Rebello, Holy Spirit Youth Animator Fr. Domnic Savio Rodrigues, Fr. Francis De Melo, Sr. Reina, Sr. Getrude and Catechist Peter.
