Kerala Blasters cruise past FC Goa

BENAULIM: Kerala Blasters Football Club (reserves) blanked FC Goa (reserves) 2-0 in the 2nd Division AIFF League match played at Holy Trinity ground, Benaulim on Monday.

FC Goa had the first chance of the match in the 6th minute through midfielder Hayden Fernandes after collecting the ball from U-22 Leander D’Cunha as the latter shot from the top of the Kerala box but it went over the cross bar of Kerala.

Within two minutes, Kerala’s striker Shaiborlang Kharpan took a corner but FC Goa keeper Mohammad Nawaz saved it brilliantly. Minutes later, FC Goa had a chance as Hayden crossed the ball to Aaren D’Silva but failed to rise high and head the ball. At the other end ,Kerala’s Suraj Rawat’S arrow bond shot was blocked by U-22 FC Goa defender Brian Faria. 

Kerala’s midfielder Hrishi Dhath took a free-kick but to the latter’s dismay the FC Goa cross bar denied the ball from entering the net in the 28th minute. It was in the 32nd minute when FC Goa through Princeton Rebello’s powerful shot fled over the crossbar of Kerala in the 28th minute.

In the second half, FC Goa keeper Mohammad Nawaz brought down Sahal Abdul Samad and the referee awarded a penalty kick. Sahal Abdul Samd netted the first goal for Kerala with the penalty kick.

As the match progressed in the 76th minute, FC Goa’s Princeton Rebello sent in a ball to substitute Vincy Barreto who shot at once but missed the rival target by whiskers.

It was yet another blunder created by the FC Goa keeper Mohammad who was passing the ball to the nearby FC Goa player but the ball was well intercepted by Sahal Abdul Samad who snatched the ball and shot to net in the second goal for Kerala in the 86th minute.
