Kerensky begins amateur MMA with a win

PANJIM: Goa’s Kerensky Fernandes made a statement with her debut win in the MMA in the Olympus Fight Series 2 amateur mixed martial arts (MMA) fight in the 115lbs category against Blackman.

Kerensky was calm and composed throughout the fight and used every technical bit she had been practising in the camp.

“The fight was great. It’s a feeling I cannot describe in words. My opponent gave a tough fight. I did get hit but not hurt,” stated Kerensky who won the Round1 and almost had her opponent in an arm bar by the end of the second round but ran out of time. But, it was in the second round where she got her an advantage for a TKO (technical knockout) at 00:57 secs.

“I did not know much about my opponent as it was her debut fight too. She had a very aggressive style, but it did not aggravate me at all,” stated Kerensky after the fight.

If not important it’s very motivating to win the first fight which Kerensky managed to do.

“It’s important to have the first win as it motivates you to do even better the next time. And as I have decided to marry the octagon I have to give this relationship my 100%. I was not perfect, I’ve made mistakes and now it’s time to improvise and implement in the next one. My coach Brad Pickett (AKA One Punch) has already been in discussion about this,” stated Kerensky who now plans to stay busy training and grinding to further sharpen her skills.

“I want to give people something different to watch every time. After all its show biz,” signed off the stylish fighter.
