PANJIM: A strong second half performance helped Kevnem Sports Club come from behind and register a 2-1 win against St Mathew’s Sports Club Azossim in the Goa Football Association Third Division League match played at Taleigao ground, on Monday.

St Mathew’s SC Azossim enjoyed better share of possession in the first session and took the lead in the 23rd minute through Francisco D’Costa.

St Mathew’s Selvino Gonsalves was cautioned by the referee in the first session for his reckless tackle on an opponent player. Azossim led 1-0 at the break.

Kevnem, who earlier had a quiet first half came strongly in the second session creating chances upfront with the midfield supporting their strike force with constant deliveries.

Kevnem made it all square at the hour mark through Tejnath Khandolkar.

With the match evenly contested, it turned out pretty physical as the tackles started flying in from either sides.

Asner Alfonso was the second player for Azossim to be cautioned for his reckless tackle before Brenson Miranda was also flashed the yellow by the referee who had a tough day on the field.

In the 85th minute Jaysuarya K was flashed a straight red before Kevnem took the lead through Bhanudas Gawas.

Azossim frustrations were clearly visible as they were further reduced to 9 men when Selvino received his second yellow for another harsh tackle compelling the referee to send him off the pitch.
