Khorlim XI win Bandodkar Trophy

PANJIM: Khorlim XI defeated Maratha Warriors by six wickets to win the Bandodkar Trophy knockout cricket tournament, organised by Panjim Gymkhana, at Bandodkar ground, Campal, recently.

Batting first, Maratha were bundled out for 127 in 31.3 overs. Abhishek Singh was the top run-getter with 40 while Yogesh Kavthankar was the pick of the bowlers with the figures of 27 for 3. Amit Yadav also picked three wickets giving 31 runs while Narsimha Reddy pocketed two for 20 runs.

In reply, Khorlim successfully chased down the target in just 28.3 overs. Amit Yadav was impressive with the bat too for the winners but was sent back to the pavilion with one run short of his half-century. 

Abhishek Singh, Hemant Khot, Sandeep Navik and Abdol Salam took a wicket each for the losing team.

The winners got richer by Rs 50,000 and a trophy while the runners-up had to settle for Rs 25,000. Khorlim's Amit Yadav bagged the man of the match award while his teammate Soham Panvelkar was named man of the series. Maratha's Vaishnav  Pednekar was named as the best batsman while Sher Yadav the best bowler.

Chief guest Sharad Vengurlekar, Director of Bandodkar and Sons gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of guest of honour Suraj Lotlikar GCA President, Vipul Phadke GCA Secretary, Manoj Caculo, President of Panjim Gymkhana and other dignitaries and club officials.
