MARGAO: The King’s School coaches and teaching staff team bagged the award of the King’s Premier League, a five over a side tennis ball cricket tournament.
The King’s School, Margao hosted the seventh edition of this cricket tournament with many former Ranji players including Aditya Angle participating in the tournament. The tournament had a registration fee and seven teams, all done in aid of cancer patient’s welfare. The tournament also saw a participation of Business Network International group BNI Mathgram, Margao participating in the tournament.
The tournament was successfully organized by cricket coach Murli Talekar along with The King’s School’s chairman Melvin Pereira and Director Ligia Pereira.
This tournament was held for the invited team, parents, students, ex-students of The King’s School while the tournament also had a special all women’s match between the women staff of the school and the school girls team comprising of players having represented Goa for BBCI organized tournaments in the U 14, U 16 and U 19 category in cricket across India. The proceeds from the tournament were donated towards Cancer Patients Welfare. The entire proceeds will go towards Cancer Patient’s Welfare, an endeavor of The King’s School.
Former First class cricketer Vivek Kolamkar, the chief guest at the event stated that events like this are not just about cricket but about sports that unites people across communities, religion and caste. Vivek praised the school for organizing the KPL for the last seven years.
The tennis ball tournament had cash awards of RS 15,000 and Rs 10,000 up for grabs besides trophies were distributed for man of match, girl of the match, best fielder, best catch, best bowler and best batsman.
