Maina bow out

PANJIM: St Anthony Sports club, Assolda fought back from two goals down in the first half, to register a 6-4 victory over Maina Sports Club via the tie-breaker to enter the quarter-finals of Fr Agnelo Youth Soccer, organized by Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, at Panchayat ground, Avedem, Paroda, on Monday.

Maina opened their account in the fifth minute through Marcus Fernandes while Velin Fernandes increased the margin in the 12th minute.

Down by two goals, Assolda in the second half took control of the proceedings and earned a self-goal during a commotion in the goal area to reduce the margin.

Thereafter, Assolda levelled terms through Stanly Halagli and went on to win with 4-2 margin in the tie-breaker as Succoro Fernandes, Jayson Dias, Sydney Vaz and Stanly Halagli were on target. Nevil Fernandes and Bruno Fernandes scored for Maina.
