Mandar emerges champ in AICF event

PANJIM: Mandar Lad (Fide rating 1961) of Bardez emerged victorious in AICF's Chess for Everyone rating tournament defeating 2nd seed Aryan Shamrao Raikar (1623) in the final round. He remained unbeaten with 8.5 points and won Rs. 21,000 and a trophy.

Paarth Salvi (1623) of Bardez finished second defeating Sachin Gaude (1485) of Ponda in the final round with 8 points and won a Rs. 14,000 and a trophy.

Ayush Pednekar (1590) won against Alex Sequeira (1277) to emerge third with 7 points and won Rs. 11,000 and a trophy.

Sairaj Dilip Vernekar (1580) of Salcete outwitted AFM Edrick Vaz (1396) of Salcete in the final round to finish fourth with 7 points. Rupesh Ravindra Bate (1411) of Maharashtra defeated Saras Summer Powar (1321) of Goa to finish fifth with 7 points. Shaik Samad(1355) of Andra Pradesh won against Parab Rishikesh (1436) of Goa due to forfeiture by the opponent to finish sixth with 7 points. Ekka Aniket (Mormugoa) and Tejas Verenkar (Salcete) finished 7th and 8th respectively with 7 points. The 9th to 13th positions were taken by Sachin Gaude (Ponda), Aiden Grao (Tiswadi), Anish Naik (Ponda), Ishan Roy (Maharashtra) and Rachel Pereira (Salcette) respectively with 6.5 points each.
