AVEDEM-PARODA: Mandopa SC blanked Ugem Rising Club Sanguem 3-0 to lift the 11th Fr Agnelo Cup, organised by Fr Agnel YC Paroda, at Avedem-Paroda, on Sunday.

Mandopa’s Climax Lawrence was the star of the final with his dribbling, passes and shooting power. 

Isarael Gomes and Francisco Fernandes of Ugem missed chances in the fourth and sixth minutes. Thereafter, Mandopa’s Prestly Gomes missed the Ugem target by a whisker in the 23rd minute.

In the second half, coach Inacio Costa changed the game plan and gave extra task to Climax Lawrence to control the midfield and forward lines and give passes. The plan paid off with Mandopa’s Travis D’Souza  netting the first goal of the match in the 46th minute. 

Thereafter, Mandopa’s Rovan Pereira netted a brace in the 49th and 56th minutes to make it 3-0 for Mandopa.

The winners were awarded Rs 40,000 while the runners-up had to settle for Rs 30,000 plus trophies.

Chandrakant Babu Kavelkar Dy CM of Goa was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Fr Agnel Rodrigues, parish priest of Immaculate Conception church, Paroda,  Clafasio Dias, MLA Cuncolim Constituency, Fr Beny D’Costa asst parish priest of Paroda church, Filoman Costa, PI of Crime branch, Hazel Fernandes ZP member Xeldem, Alleluia Afonso, Sarpanch of VP Avedem  and other dignitaries.
