MAPUSA: Margao SC registered a well-deserved 3-0 win over Betalbatim SC in the Anjuna Gymkhana Cup 2024 played at Anjuna Gymkhana ground, Anjuna, on Tuesday.
Margao SC opened their account in the very 5th minute of play. Cliff Baretto’s 25-yard free-kick hit the Betalbatim SC’s player and the ball rolled to Welton D’Souza, who was right near the goal area, slotted the ball into the nets, 1-0.
Margao SC colts doubled their lead in the 16th minute through Elroy Baretto, who receiving a through pass from Charles Miranda, placed the ball home, 2-0. On crossing over, after number of missed chances, Margao SC netted their third goal. Hanselem Futardo scored from a misunderstanding between the Betalbatim SC’s goalkeeper and the defender, 3-0.
Elroy Barreto of Margao SC was adjudged the player-of-the-match.
