RAIA: Marina English High School, Verna defeated St Xavier’s High School, Velim, 5-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the Fr Peter SVD Memorial football tournament, at SVD Seminary, Raia ground, on Tuesday.

RAIA: Marina English High School, Verna defeated St Xavier’s High School, Velim,  5-0  to move into the quarter-finals of the Fr Peter SVD Memorial football tournament,  at SVD Seminary, Raia ground, on Tuesday.

 Mysler Braganza scored first hat-trick for Marina High School in the 3rd, 6th and 9th minutes of the match and took away the man-of-the-match award. 

St Xavier’s Velim had their chances to score too with Jelton Fernandes and Rowilson Fernandes hiting the rival post in the 4th and 8th minutes and displayed a good piece of football.  Marina High School, Verna proved to be better side in the rest of the game, with Rayson Colaco and Akif Sayed adding their names to the score sheet for Marina to make it 5-0 in the last quarter of the match. 

In the second match Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna went down fighting against Our Lady Of Mother of Poor High School Tilamol via tie-breaker as the match remained goalless at regulation time.

The final score was 5-4. The man-of-the-match was awarded to Godwin D’Costa of Tilamol.
