PANJIM: Merces Panchayat excelled at the Santa Cruz constituency level badminton tournament, organised by Creative Peoples Sports & Cultural Club Santa Cruz, at Santa Cruz, recently.
In the boys U-14 singles category, Advait of Merces Panchayat, defeated Siddhant (Merces) in straight sets 15-4, 15-7.
In the mixed doubles category, Manoj and Manju (Merces) won a nervy encounter against Nilesh & Janvi (Chimbel) 21-17, 22-20. In the men’s doubles category, Willson and Navin (Merces) defeated Luciano and Floyd (Santa Cruz) 23-21, 22-20.
In the boy’s U-10 singles category, Linesh (Chimbel) got the better of Jonathan (Santa Cruz) 15-13, 15-10.
In the girls U-14 singles category, Nishita (Chimbel) defeated Tosha (Merces) 15-8, 15-7.
In the team event, Willson, Navin, Kenneth, Dayesh & Advait (Merces) defeated Luciano, Floyd, Prenoy, Sanjib & Eddie (Santa Cruz).
Chief guest and Santa Cruz MLA Antonio Fernandes distributed the prizes in the presence of Ulhas Naik, Sarpanch Santa Cruz Panchayat, Baba Rodrigues Ex-Sarpanch and Sandeep Vernekar, Ex-ZP Merces.
