Navelim Villagers Union down Varca SC
BENAULIM: Navelim Villagers Union got the better of Varca SC 1-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the 29th Super Soccer football tournament organised by United Boys of Dando, Colva, at Sao Joao Baptist Dando ground, Benaulim, on Wednesday.
Varca’s Nash Pereira took control of the ball from Jhonus D’Costa who dribbled past the Navelim defenders and shot from close range but the Varca keeper was equal to the task in the second minute.
At the other end, Navelim through Aldrich Coelho should have netted but the latter’s shot hit the Varca side netting in the 5th minute.
Two minutes later, Navelim’s Aldrich Coelho’s shot which got the deflected off a Varca player and landed safely into the Varca net to open the account.
Varca tried to equalise but the defenders of Navelim guarded the fort till the end of the match.
