PANJIM: Months of speculations were put to bed on Wednesday evening as FC Goa shared a hint of a possible partnership RB Leipzig on their social media feeds.

The teaser video saw two youngsters discuss about Dayot Upamecano who is a central defender at the German club.

According to sources, the tie-up between the two clubs will see FC Goa benefit in many ways. However, there wouldn’t be any change in the existing crest which features the State-animal—Gaur.

The source further clarified that the deal between the two clubs is just a technical one and there would be further scope for future upgradation.

It is believed that the deal was in place a year ago when FC Goa’s former assistant coach Clifford Miranda was in Germany to complete his A-license coaching. Multiple pictures of the Goan coach watching a match at the Red Bull Arena and also sharing moments with RB Leipizig manager Julian Nagelsmann did rounds on the internet.

Remarkable talents such as Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and more recently Erling Braut-Halland have used the Red Bull football structure as a launch-pad to elevate their respective careers to the next level. Towards the twilight of his career, France’s legendary striker Thierry Henry also played a brief spell for New York Red Bulls in the Major Soccer League.

The Indian Super League has seen clubs tie-up with European Giants since its inception.

The past agreement between Atletico de Kolkata and Atletico Madrid(now ATK-Mohun Bagan), the recent City football group’s tie-up with Mumbai City FC and Hyderabad FC along with Borussia Dortmund are exemplary for Indian football’s recognition.  The same can be said with the above deal which will not only put Goa on the world football map but will also set high hopes for further development in Goan football.
