RAIA: Our Lady of Fatima Sports and Cultural Club, Baida, downed Papa Boys, Mugalli, 2-0 to move into the quarter-finals of Our Lady of Fatima Cup 2024 played at Our Lady of Fatima Sports and Cultural Club ground, Baida, Chinchinim, on Thursday.
Shario scored a brace in 9th and 10th minute for Our Lady of Fatima Sports and Cultural Club.
Later, Raymond of Papa Boys took a power-packed shot but was saved by rival keeper Denil. Garison and Raymond made some move to eqaulise for Papa Boys but defenders of Our Lady of Fatima Sports and Cultural Club stood firm to defend their goal.
Earlier, Mathew XI, Assolda, pipped Varca Footballers 1-0 to move into the quarter-finals.
In the first half, Richard of Mathew XI dribbled past the defenders and got a chance to take the lead but the rival keeper Mohammad Shaikh pushed the ball for the corner. Then Welson Fernandes took the lead for Mathew XI with a strong header from the corner kick in the 9th minute. Soon, Victorino Fernandes had a good chance to double the lead but Mohammad brilliantly collected the ball in the 10th minute. Patraj of Varca Footballers missed a good chance to equalise the goal with a header in the 16th minute.
Laden Mendonca took a powerful shot but the rival keeper pushed the ball for the corner in the 19th minute. At half time, the score was 1-0 in favour of Mathew XI. In the second half, Welson missed an easy chance to score a brace but shot wide in the 36th minute. Coloman Noronha of Varca Footballers had a good chance to equalise but shot wide.
