CALATA-MAJORDA: Parish Youth Nuvem edged past Ambelim SC 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the 30th St Rock Cup organised by St Rock YC, Calata-Majorda, at St Rocks ground, Calata-Majorda, on Tuesday.
In the third minute, Ambelim’s Samson Simoes took control of the ball from Steven Pinto and dribbled past Nuvem’s Richard Colaco and Nigel Coutinho and shot from the top of the box but Nuvem keeper Shawn Rodrigues was equal to the task.
Six minutes later, Nuvem’s Ryan Souza’s long range shot failed to pop up into the Ambelim net.
Nuvem’s coach Jerose Oliveira changed the game plan in the 18th minute and the plan worked out with Swindon D'Silva and Rayan Souza netting a goal each in the 21st and 26th minutes.
In the second half, Ambelim regrouped themselves and went on attacking mode and were all over the Nuvem territory but missed a spot kick taken by Joel whose shot ballooned over the cross bar.
In the dying minutes, Ambelim reduced the margin through Semson Fernandes.
