PANJIM: Panjim Footballers earned their first point of the season following their goalless draw against Sesa Football Academy in the Goa Football Association Selvel Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
Sesa Football Academy squandered the biggest chance when Fazil sent in a cross in the box setting up Omkar Arondekar, who had to just direct the ball into the goal.
However, Panjim Keeper Preston Rego was much quicker than the Sesa striker thus blocking the shot by diving infront of the player.
Just before the cooling break, Panjim’s Dheeraj headed a Chandan Gawas corner over the bar.
At the other end, Sesa continued to waste their good chances. Omkar on seeing Aston Rodrigues sent a long diagonal ball in the area, however, with just the keeper at his sight, the Academy lad’s shot was eventually saved by the Panjim custodian Rego.
In the 49th minute, Sesa FA’s Domnic managed to win the ball using his physical prowess, however, Preston Rego left his guard to collect the ball in time before the Academy player could pounce on the the ball.
In the dying minutes of the game, Sesa FA had their last chance to score but Panjim’s Dhiraj Chauhan put his body on the line to put a timely tackle to deny Kunal who just had the keeper ahead of him.
