The North Goa side beat Goa Police SC 2-1 while the South Goa team thump ICSC Paroda 4-1; Salgaocar FC Jrs play out a goalless draw against Curtorim Gymkhana

CURTORIM: Panjim Footballers defeated Goa Police SC 1-0 in the GFA First Division League match, played at Cuncolim ground, on Thursday.

Panjim Footballers started the match on the front foot and had the first chance in the fourth minute when Shawn Noronha set up Snedden Rodrigues infront of the rival goal, but the latter failed to direct his shot at the goal from close range.

Goa Police had their chance to take the lead in the 12th minute, but Rajesh Salgaocar shot wide from touching distance.

After much probing, Panjim Footballers took the lead in the 33rd minute when Shawn Noronha on collecting the ball from the midfield lashed in a powerful strike from 30-yard distance which crashed into the Goa Police goal.

Goa Police had the chance to level terms just before the break but Rajesh shot straight at the keeper.

Crossing ends, Goa Police went all out in search of the equaliser and came close to scoring twice. First –Milind’s solo effort was brilliantly denied by the rival keeper and then Rajesh yet again failed to take his chance with only the keeper at his mercy. The score remained 1-0 till the final whistle.

At Cuncolim ground, United Club of Telaulim defeated Immaculate Conception SC 4-1.

Jaison Dias and Clinton Niasso scored a brace each for the winners while Manish Oliveira pulled a goal back for Immaculate Conception Sports Club Paroda in the 55th minute.

At Ambelim ground, Salgaocar Football Club Juniors and Curtorim Gymkhana played out a goalless draw.
