RAIA-SOLVA: Parish Youth Nuvem blanked Ambelim SC 2-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the Custodio Memorial football trophy football tournament, organised by Raia Sporting club, at Raia village panchayat ground, on Sunday.
Ambelim striker Hayden Pinto missed the chance to score in the fourth minute. Nuvem’s Sanford Colaco took a power-packed shot but it was blocked by Hayden Pinto .
Once again, Sanford Colaco should have netted in the ninth minute but Ambelim goalkeeper Marral Pereira was equal to the task.
A solo move by Nuvem Inacio Colaco of Nuvem after dribbling past a couple of Ambelim players took a power-packed shot but was denied by the Ambelim cross bar in the dying minute of the first half.
Post-resumption, PY Nuvem’s Jerose Oliveira assisted with two quick goals through Dagley Fernandes’ shot and Jonas Colaco’s glancing header in the 65th and 67th minutes respectively.
Jonas Colaco of Parish Youth Nuvem was presented with the man-of-the-match award.
