Shri Mahamaya High School clinch U-17 girls Bicholim taluka title

CURCHOREM: Pope John XXIII High School, Quepem downed Guardian Angel Higher Secondary School, Curchorem 4-2 via the tie-breaker to win the Quepem taluka U-17 Subroto Mukherjee football tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Tilamol panchayat ground on Monday. 

In the second minute, the Quepem school managed to open their account through striker Leadon D’Costa and later continued to resist all the moves of the defenders.

Displaying attacking brand of soccer both the teams kept the audience on their toes and in the 38th minute of post resumption the breakthrough came for Guardian Angel when striker Lawren Fernandes shot into the net.

Later, both the teams started mounting pressure on each other and tried to increase their respective tally but remained unsuccessful and the regular time ended with score 1-1.

In the tie-breaker, Pope John XXIII boys were the better shooters as Lonaldo Naidu, Mecroy Oliveira and Tanmay Thakur scored forthe winners while only Kevin D’Costa scored for Guardian Angel during the tie-breaker.

Meanwhile, Our Lady Mother of Poor High School, Tilamol secured third place by defeating Immaculate Conception 4-3.
