PANJIM: All India LIC No 1 player Prajakta Tipale, Thane stormed into the semi-finals of 48th L IC Western Zone Table Tennis Tournament women section at the Indoor Sports Stadium, Campal, Panjim on Thursday.

PANJIM: All India LIC No 1 player Prajakta Tipale, Thane stormed into the semi-finals of 48th L IC  Western Zone Table Tennis Tournament women section at the Indoor Sports Stadium, Campal, Panjim on Thursday.
Shruti Talnikar, Sushma Mogre and Mrunmayee Mhatre also booked semis berth.
In the quarter-finals Prajakta Tipale, Thane Division beat Roopa  Shetty of Mumbai; 
Shruti Talnikar (no 2 seed), Thane beat S Dharashivkar of Pune; Sushma Mogre of Thane beat M K Dalal of Ahmedabad while Mrunmayee Mhatre of Mumbai beat Amita  Fatterpekar, of Mumbai.
In the mens event Ravi Joshi, V K Unadkat, C E Gosavi and Amol Jade stormed in the semi-finals.
In the quarter-finals Ravi Joshi (All India LIC No 4) of Bhavnagar beat R N Sawant  of  Pune; V K Unadkat of Rajkot beat Amar Yadav of Mumbai; C E Gosavi of Mumbai beat   M A Makwana of Surat while Amol Jade of Mumbai beat B T Boje of Surat.
The semifinal of mens & womens events will be held on Friday in the morning and the finals will start at 4 pm followed by closing ceremony and prize distribution.
Earlier  the Tournament was inaugurated  S P S Vilkhoo, Sr Divisional Manager, Goa Division, in the presence of Rajesh Midha, Regional Manager (HRD), Western Zonal Office.
A total of 51 participated for the top honour.
