PANJIM: Prashant Kamat Hemant Ramani beat John Xavier-Vikas Prabhu, 3-1, to clinch the 5th Dr Filipe Pinto Memorial All Goa Table Tennis Tournament Super Group category, played at Clube Vasco da Gama, Panjim. In the semifinals, John Xavier & Vikas Prabhu beat Raj Lotlikar & Mohammed Mazar Shaikh, 3-2, while Prashant Kamat & Hemant Ramani beat Dr Brennan Tavares & Peter Cordeiro, 3-0.
In the Elite Group category, Amit Naik & Xisto Fernandes beat Sachin Soares & Rajendra Parsekar, 3-1, to clinch the trophy. In the semi-finals Sachin Soares & Rajendra Parsekar beat Yousuf Sheikh & Rajendra Naik, 3-2, while Amit Naik & Xisto Fernandes beat Joseph Sequeira & Sanjoy Sankalp, 3-1.
Gouramangi Singh, Indian former professional footballer and currently assistant coach of FC Goa, was the chief guest and Nitin Bandekar, industrialist and President of Vasco Sports Club was the guest of honour at the finals and prize distribution function.
