Raitura SC outplay Cuncolim Union

FATORDA: Raitura SC defeated Cuncolim Union 3-1 in the GFA Second Division match played at Artificial turf, Fatorda on Sunday.

Raitura SC coach Xavier Colaco and Cuncolim Union coach Girijadevi Dessai showed aggression and guided their players from the dugout. The teams went into the breather with a 1-1 draw.

Cuncolim Union tried to get the first goal through Hasten Dias who had a brilliant opportunity in the 7th minute however his right footed effort got the deflection of Ramson Pereira and was later saved by Swisfren Da Silva goalkeeper of Raitura SC. 

Within a few minutes Immasab Guledgudda, striker of Raitura SC dribbled past a couple of players and shot towards the goal however his strike failed to make an impact as the ball went wide.

With both the teams restricting to midfield play, neither of the teams could get a goal. Nash Pereira of Cuncolim Union then had the best chance in the 20th minute but his power drive was denied by the rival post. 

Raitura SC drew the first blood as Immasab Gulegudda opened the account for Raitura with his placement shot in the 29th minute of Raymond Rodrigues’ assist. 

Later, Raitura SC attacked once again through Raymond Rodrigues who was fed by Ranson Pereira in the 34th minute but to Raymond’s dismay his shot was denied by the rival post. 

Cuncolim Union on a counter-attack finally managed to draw level with Raitura SC in the 36th minute through Necil Pinto after Krishna Shirodkar sent him a brilliant through ball.

Raitura coach adopted three man defence intact on the top of their box with Allan Dias, Roque Borges and Ramson Pereira guarding the fort from the start of second half which gave them protection as the strikers scored two more goals which came from the boots of Melroy Dias in the 51st minute and from Abbhay Shetty of a penalty kick in the 60th minute.

Cuncolim Union’s Hasten Dias and Nash Pereira missed a sitter each in the 65th and 70th minute as both shot into the safe hands of rival goalkeeper.

In another match, at Cansaulim ground, Mormugao United SC defeated Dabolim Youth SC 4-0.

Sushant Borkar was the star of the match for Mormugao as he scored a hat trick in the 6th,19th and 46th minutes while Noel D’mello added his name on the score sheet to make it 4-0 for Mormugao in the 87th minute.

At Velsao ground, Rising Star defeated Cross boys 3-1. Clinton Pacheco opened the account for Cross boys in the 19th minute while Uday Naik equalised for Rising Star in the 23rd minute. Naveed Shaik made it 2-1 for Rising Star in the 75th minute while Basurajan Harijan drove the final nail into the coffin making it 3-1 for Rising Star in the 83rd minute.
