MAPUSA: Ronaldo Oliveria excelled in Salgaocar Football Club’s 5-0 win over Bardez Football Club in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium here on Thursday.

With Thursday’s win Salgaocar FC are on fourth position with 29 points from 14 matches, while Bardez FC remain at the bottom of the league table with 6 points from 17 matches.

Ronaldo Oliveria was the hero of the match netting in four goals while Sanson Periera was the other scorer for Salgaocar who led 3-0 at the breather.

Salgaocar looking to bounce back from their heavy 1-6 defeat in the last match against Churchill Bros started aggressively and were ahead within six minutes through Sanson Pereira who on getting hold of a defence-splitting pass by Samuel Costa beat the Bardez keeper Elesh Shirvoikar with a deft placement, 1-0. 

It did not take long for Salgaocar to find their second goal which came in the 20th minute when Ronaldo Oliveria who was a thorn in the Bardez defence for the entire match smashed the ball into the far corner of the net after being teed up by U-20 Rollwin Almeida with a delightful cross.

Salgaocar were rampant and had Devendra got on his shooting boots the score line would have been different as he squandered chances, however, thanks to Ronlado who was in a killer mood got their third goal in the 37th minute with a clever dink over the advancing Bardez keeper Elesh from a cross delivered by skipper Godfrey Mascarenhas.

Bardez who were completely outclassed by their opponents started the second half on a promising note, but Richard Cardoz two attempts did not cause much problem to Salgaocar’s custodian Nora Fernandes who had nothing much to do under the goal post.

In the 70th minute, Devendra was unlucky not to get his name on the score sheet when his fierce shot from the edge of the box was cleared by Bardez Stephen Martin.

However, Ronaldo had better luck in finding the target, scoring two goals for Salgaocar in the 83rd and 89th minute first from an intelligent back heal touch off Devendra and then from a long ball delivered by Arif Phatan to complete the rout, 5-0

In the added time, Stephen Satarkar almost made it 6-0 but Bardez keeper Elesh brilliantly stopped his shot from close quarters.
