CHINCHINIM: Rosary High School, Navelim trounced St Xavier's High School, Velim 5-0 to move into the quarter-finals of 4th St Joseph Vaz memorial U-17 inter school boys football tournament organised by Mount's Marys High School, Chinchinim at Church ground,Chinchinim, on  Thursday The high light of the day was a brilliant  hat-trick scored by Tanvir Bagalkot.

Rosary High School reduced the match against St Xavier’s High School, to a no contest as they led 2-0 at half time. Julius Ferrao opened the flood gates in the seventh minute. Spurred by the lead, they virtually toyed with the rival weak defence and in the 20th minute as Tanvir Bagalkot doubled the lead.

Post resumption, Tanvir Bagalkot who was in thick of action struck twice in the 35th and 38th minutes to register his hat trick.Noah Luis hammered the final into the rival coffin in the 43rd minute.

In another match, St Rita's High School, Maina came from behind to beat hosts Mount's Mary's High School, Chinchinim 4-2. St Rita's High School were trailing 0-2 at half time.

Backed by the home crowd, Mount Mary's High School dominated the game and pushed their opponent on the back foot. Shario Gomes broke the deadlock in the eighth minute. Eight minutes later, Shario Gomes doubled the lead with a clinical finish.

Crossing over, St Rita's High School were a dominant lot with their forwards troubling the rival defence with well orchestrated raids as Jovial Dias reduced the deficits. After a couple of minutes, Jovial Dias scored through a free-kick to put his team on equal terms. Stephen Fernandes regained the lead and late in the second half, Myron Silva put the issue beyond doubt.
