Goa, Kolkata, Kochi and Guwahati enter last four in junior boys category

AGENCIES, MUMBAI: Rosary HSS, Navelim, booked a spot in the semi-finals with a resounding 16-0 victory over Kochi’s Mar Augustines School in the senior girls category, on Tuesday. 
Akshata Patil, who raked up five goals, was declared the player of the match. Anline Fernandes, Jeromina Colaco and Feebyl Andrade shone alongside Patil with hattricks to their names.
Chaturdash Palli High School, Kolkata is the other team to qualify from Group A having taken down the spirited girls from Dakshin Guwahati Junior College.
Chaturdash High School entered the semi-finals in style with a crushing 20-0 win over Dakshin Guwahati Junior College. Four of their players claimed hat tricks with Rakhi Kayal scoring six goals for her player of the match award. This win has put the Kolkata girls team on the second position with six points with the highest GD of 44.
In Group B Fr Agnel Multipurpose School and Junior College, Mumbai sailed into the semi-finals with a dramatic 19-0 win over Ryan International School, Delhi.  
Mumbai’s Fr Agnel Multipurpose School and Junior College sealed their berth in the senior girls category semi-finals after handing an embarrassing 19-0 defeat to the girls from Ryan International School, Delhi today. 
Ryan International School seemed to have no answer to the Mumbai girls’ attack with the latter team scoring as many as 5 hat-tricks in the match. Pooja Dhamal and Jyoti Mehra scored 4 goals each while Afreen Peerbhoy, Surthilakshmi Karamal and Pranali Shetty netted the ball thrice apiece. 
The win ensured that the Fr Agnel girls enter into the semis with a clean sheet while Ryan International heads home winless.
Chennai girls from P.S Senior Secondary School also booked their spot in the semi-finals having trounced The Bishops School, Pune 8-0.
Claiming the second spot in Group B in the senior girl’s category the girls from Chennai’s P.S Senior Secondary School entered the semi-finals in style. The one-sided match saw it raining goals as The Bishops School Pune were unable to restrain the attacks of P.S Senior Secondary School, Chennai.
In the Junior Boys category, Goan team Our Lady of Perpetual Succor High School, Goa claimed a 3-0 win over Delhi’s Tagore International School to book a berth in the semi-finals.
With two wins from three matches the Goa team has qualified for the semi-finals. The Delhi boys, however, languish at the bottom of their table after failing to get a single victory.
Consolidating their top spot in the group, Kolkata’s Chowbagha High School registered their third victory in the tournament – a 2-1 result against St. Joseph’s Residential School, Chennai. Kolkata’s midfielder, Zubair Qureshi was named the player of the match as his team cruised into the semi-finals. St. Joseph’s School began the match well with Joery Kharlukhi scoring a goal in the fourth minute. However, the game slipped away from their grasp as Manish Gupta and Bijoy Das struck to give Chowbagha a 2-1 victory.
Sacred Heart HSS, Kochi saw the team play out an exciting match with a comprehensive 3-1 win over Guwahati’s Sundarbari High School in the Junior Boys category match held here today. 
The team from Kochi appeared to be in command after taking an early lead and going into half time a goal in front with Nihal Sudeesh scoring in the 29th minute. 
Nihal followed this up with another strike scoring in the 34th minute. Sundarbari High School tried to come back into the match with a goal by Sunu Das in the 46th minute but it was soon countered by Kochi’s Abhinav Suresh four minutes later. Both teams qualify for the semi finals.
J N Petit School, Pune and Antonio Dsouza High School, Mumbai played out an entertaining 3-3 draw in the penultimate game of the group stages. Umair Ansari gave Antonio Dsouza HS the lead in the second minute of the game. J N Petit bounced back from the early set back to equalise in the 20th min via Atharva Lonkar.
 In the second half of the game both teams went out on an all-out attack to win the game. The game ended 3-3 with a splendid performance by the teams. Both teams however, failed to qualify for the semi-finals.
