BETALBATIM: Rossman Cruz Verna overcame Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda in a goal marathon tie-breaker which ended 22-21 after the game ended 0-0 to move into the final in the Late Joao Francisco and Luiza Pacheco Cup, at the Betalbatim panchayat ground, on Monday.

Early in the game, Rossman Cruz created a host of chances. Noel D’Silva tried a shot from a distance that was off target.

Beneston and Myron missed good goal-scoring opportunities. Don Bosco started to create chances as Joel Colaco came closest when he ran past the rival defenders but could only shoot straight at the goalkeeper. The two teams went into half-time locked at 0-0.

The second half was a similar story and the two teams could not get past each other. DBO’s Cliff Barretto tried to score from a free-kick while Christo D’Mello tried to curl the ball into the net only to see it sail past the far post.

The game went into extra-time and Rossman Cruz managed to pip Don Bosco Oratory to enter the final.
