Rubigula, mascot for Nat Games

PANJIM: State bird Bulbul (Rubigula) was chosen as the mascot for the 36th National Games to be held in the State from March 30 to April 14, 2019. The unveiling ceremony will take place in January 2019.

Although the work for the National Games is in fast pace there has been speculations over the completion of work as the Games have been postponed twice earlier.

Earlier, V M Prabhadesai was relieved from the post of Director (Sports and Youth Affairs) to fully concentrate on the upcoming National Games.

Recently, the technical committee of the tournament went through the survey and advised to increase the pace of work so as to complete the task by February 2019.

Prabhudesai while speaking to Herald informed that the infrastructure work for the Games has been going on a fast pace besides transport, accommodation, sports equipments etc have also been looked upon.

“The official launch of the mascot will be held in January 2019. The date for the same will be decided later”, he said.
