SAG qualify for semis

PANJIM: Riding on a strokeful half century by Rahul Mehta, Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) scored a comfortable eight wicket win over Muthoot Cricket Academy to qualify for the semi-finals in the TSCA U-16 Challenger Trophy Cricket tournament, underway at Tirupur, Tamil Nadu.

Put into bat, Muthoot scored 109 for 7 in allotted 30 overs.

Arjun S (34), Ajay Bhat (19), Aditya Vinoo (11), Aaron Jude (11) and Mukund S (10) were the only contributors to the score.

For Sports Authority of Goa, Harsh Jethaji and Anderson Fernandes picked two wickets each while Sagar Vantamuri and Shadab Khan claimed one each.

In reply, Goa scored the required runs in 15.1 overs.

Rahul Mehta’s unbeaten 66 came of 48 deliveries with eight hits to the fence and a big six.

Aryan Kutkar scored 23, and Ketan Nandrekar (3 not out) were the other scorers.

Basil picked one wicket for Muthoot. Mehta was named man of the match.
