RAIA: SC Davorlim edged past Raia Sporting Club 3-1 to book their place in the finals of Gold Silver Trophy inter-village football tournament played at Rosary church ground, Navelim, on Friday.
Reeve D’Costa of SC Davorlim was the star of the match with his dribbling and shooting prowess while for Raia SC Elton Colaco gave his best. It was a match played between two nearby neighbours, both teams displayed a brand of soccer in front of nearly 1,000 spectators and the rains didn’t dampen the spirit of the spectators.
Just in the 2nd minute itself, Agnelo Colaco opened the scoreline for SC Davorlim but the joy was short-lived as Elton equalised for Raia SC in the 8th minute.
SC Davorlim changed the game plan and gave extra task to Reeve D’Costa to control the midfield and frontline too and the plan worked with Reeve netting two quick goals in the 23rd and 29th minutes.
Raia SC tried some frontline moves through Oilex Oliveira in the second half but Francis Colaco goalkeeper of SC Davorlim was equal to the task.Man-of-the-match was awarded to Reeve D’Costa of SC Davorlim by Santosh Naik, secretary of Navelim Sporting Club.
