MAPUSA: Salgaocar Football Club scored a comfortable 4-0 win over Panjim Footballers in the Goa Professional League organised by GFA, at Duler Stadium, here, on Saturday.

Salgaocar FC managed to get full points through Ronaldo Oliveira and Andrus John who found the net in the first half while Saurabh Patel and Rowllin Almeida consolidated the lead in the second half.

Both teams needing a win for different reasons saw Panjim Footballers start aggressively and had the first crack at the opponent’s goal in the 56th second when Jaison Fernandes controlling a pass from Daryl Costa unleash a fierce right footer which rattled the crossbar and came back into play.

Salgaocar FC who took time to get out of their blocks took the lead in the 19th minute from a swift counter attack where Andrus John darted from the right flank and send a low cross across the face of the goal which was tapped in by Ronaldo Oliveira.

Andrus John was once again involved in the Green Brigade’s second goal in the 24th minute which this time was slotted into the net by Samuel Costa leaving no chance to the helpless Panjim keeper Sherwin Da Cunha.

Panjim had a chance to reduce the margin before half time but Salgaocar FC keeper Jaison who had nothing much to do stopped Lokesh Talwar’s goal-bound shot, from the rebound defender Saeessh Halarnkar who blocked Chandan Gawas’ strike for a corner.

Minutes later, Chandan Gawas could not direct his open header goal wards from a measured cross by Daryl Costa.

Salaogcar FC were clinical in front of the goal and scored the third within five minutes into the second half through Saurabh Patel’s header this time Sanson Pereira being the provider to make it 3-0.

Panjim Footballers tried to get back into the match but their strikers Snedden Rodrigues and Jaison Fernandes seemed out of sorts as they could not provide the finishing touch to some delightful crosses by Joyson Gauncar and Daryl Costa.

Rowllin Alemida wrapped up the match for Salgaocar FC in the 68th minute when his strike inside the 6-yard box hit the leg of a Panjim defender and entered the net with the keeper going the other way.
