PANJIM: Dempo Cricket Club defeated Chowgules Cricket Club by 204 runs while Salgaonkar Sports Club thumped BSNL by 5 wickets to march into the final of the 3rd All India Late Babu Naik tournament, on Saturday.

In the semi finals played at Fatorda, Dempo CC won the toss and elected to bat first and posted 271 for 7 in 40 overs.
Saurabh Dube (75) was the highest scorer with Sagun Kamat (44) and Darshan Misal (40) supporting well. Vijesh Prabhudessai and Vishamber Khlon took two wickets whereas Felix Alemao, Vedant Naik, Sriniwas Phadte took a wicket each.
Subodh Bhatti (4-26) and Akshay Darekar (3-3) shattered the Chowgule top order for 68 all out in 14.2 overs. Saurabh Bandekar and Shivam Dube took a wicket each.
The man-of-the-match was awarded to Subodh Bhatti.
In a steady chase Salgaonkar defeated BSNL by 5 wickets, at Sanguem ground.
Winning the toss and electing to field, Salgaonkars restricted BSNL to 227 for 8 in 40 overs.
Anshul Kapoor (61) and Joginder Singh (47) tried to steady the innings with a partnership of 80 runs while K. Makhwana (28*) batted well. Atif Sayyed was the pick of the bowlers with (3-43) with Prajval Gund (2-41). Balkrishna Shivar and Sher Bahadur Yadav took a wicket each.
In reply, Salgaonkars started the innings with Swapnil Salvi (102) and Swapnil Asnodkar (46) who shared 147 runs partnership for the first wicket scored the winning run (228/5) in the 34th over.
Amogh Dessai (23) and Vishrant Dessai (23*) were other run getters. Makhwana took 3 and Salil Yadav and Kuldeep Diwan took 1 wicket each.
Man-of-the-Match was awarded to Swapnil Salvi (102).
The final will be played today, at Fatorda between Dempo CC and Salgaonkar SC.
