Sathvik is Curti rapid  chess champion

PANJIM: Sathvik Kerkar (7.7 points) emerged champion in the Curti Rapid Chess tournament organised by Ajinkya Chess Academy in association with Ponda Taluka Chess Association and Lions Club of Ponda City held at Krishna Temple Hall, Curti-Ponda, recently.

Saish Natekar (6.7 points) stood second. On tie-breaker, Aryan Jojo (5.5) secured the third place and Arya Kamat Helekar (5.5) secured the fourth place. Fifth place was secured by Pratik Gaude (5) and sixth place by Divesh Priolkar (5). 7th to 12th place all scoring 4.5 are Mayank Gaude, Pratish Gaude, Vivaan Verekar, Nagesh Naik, Chinmay Gaude and Nishesh Gaude.

Individual prizes:  Best  U-9 - Tansh Pramod Gaude, Best  U-11 - Lushkalp Gaude and Best  U-13 - Anvay Borkar. Promising  player prizes  were awarded to Tansh Gaude and Anushka Naik. 41 participants took part.

Executive Committee Member of PTCA Anand Kurtikar was the chief arbiter. Prizes were distributed in presence of Lion District Chairperson Mahesh Gaitonde, Lion District Chairperson Sunil Kesarkar and Assistant Arbiter Milind Gaude. 

Vrajesh Natekar, Manohar Kurtikar, Pratik Gaude, Saish Natekar and Ashok Kerkar helped to make the tournament successful.

Anand Kurtikar did the encoring, while Anushka Naik read the prize list.

Later, Nirali Priolkar proposed a vote of thanks.
