RAIA/MAPUSA: The Goa Professional League is in a thrilling race for the championship as Sesa FA and Pax of Nagoa secured crucial wins on Friday.

At Benaulim ground, Pax of Nagoa dominated Cortalim Villagers 3-1. 

Pax of Nagoa displayed relentless pressure from the word go, with Sherwin Abranches' long-range strike finding the net in the 15th minute. Shubert Pereira doubled their lead just before the halftime.

Cortalim Villagers refused to surrender, pulling one back through Clive Miranda's header in the 63rd minute. They threatened an equaliser but Pax of Nagoa’s counter-attack proved decisive. In a solo run, Delton Colaco kept his composure, despite having no support in the face of an onrushing Cortalim keeper, placed the ball in the gap to secure Pax of Nagoa’s third goal of the game and the full three points.

Sesa FA registered a solitary goal win over Vasco SC to consolidated their lead at the top, at Poriat ground, Calangute. Skipper Joshua D’Silva scored the all-important goal in the 72nd minute for Sesa FA.

Sesa FA’s Joshua D’Silva, who solidified his position as the league's top scorer with 21 goals, received the man-of-the-match award from Bruno Coutinho, Arjuna Awardee.
