NAVELIM: A fine brace from Snedden Rodrigues helped Panjim Footballers blank Holy Cross SC, Arambol SC 2-0 in the GFA First Division League match played at Raia ground, Raia on Wednesday.

Snedden scored a goal each in the either session.

Holy Cross had nervy opening minutes and almost gifted Panjim Footballers the first goal in the third minute when Jasmira Koyel poorly cleared the ball, which fell to Panjim Footballers striker’s Daryl’s feet, but the latter shot over the cross bar.

Minutes later, Holy Cross midfielder Jayesh Pednekar sent an accurate through pass to Jayesh Chopdekar but the strikers effort was thwarted by Panjim Footballers defender Alton.

In the 15th minute, Panjim’s Harshad Naik’s long range effort missed the Holy Cross nets.

Holy Cross’s Kewin D’Souza pulled off a stunning save to deny Prisco Moura in the 24th minue.

The second quarter of the match saw Panjim attacking the rivals as Snedden and Prisco testing the keepers with long range efforts.

At the other end, Arambol’s Vivek Naik downward header was swallowed by the Panjim Footballers’ keeper Karol Sueles.

Panjim finally broke the deadlock just before the break when Prisco and Snedden combined upfront the break the rival defence and the latter coolly slotted home from the goal mouth.

Crossing over, Arambol came back strongly. Baretto’s left foot shot brushed the side nettings.

Panjim finally scored the second at the hour mark when Joyson Gauncar found Snedden in the rival box and the striker made no mistake to hit the ball at the back of the Arambol nets.

At Cuncolim ground, Immaculate Conception SC, Paroda defeated Sesa FA 2-0.

Godfrey Silva opened the account for ICSC Paroda in the 31st minute, while Jovel Fernandes doubled the lead in the 81st minute.
