MAPUSA: St Savio’s Sports Club got the better of CDJ Ribandar 3-0 to clinch the Nerul Panchayat Soccer Cup, organised by Nerul Sports Club, played at Nerul ground, on Sunday.

In an equally contested encounter both sides had a fair share of scoring chances but it was St Savio who converted, when in the 28th minute Domnic Fernandes got the better of his marker to slot the ball into the Ribandar goal, 1-0.

Changing ends, Blake Haldankar’s shot was too hot was the Ribandar custodian to handle and the ball rolled into the nets, 2-0.

Aniket Mandrekar made it 3-0 in favour of St Savio in the 56th minute of play through a solo effort.

Suraj Morajkar, businessman, Rupesh Naik, ZP member, Shashikala Govekar, Sarpanch and panch members of VP Nerul awarded the winners Rs 35,000 while CDJ Ribandar received Rs 25,000.
