PANJIM: The GFA U-14 match between Compassion FC and DBO SCYC was called off due to the non-playable ground conditions at the Agassaim ground.

It has been observed that the outgrown grass makes it virtually impossible to take the field, thus disrupting the GFA league fixtures at the venue.

When contacted GFA General Secretary Welvin Menezes said, “We had written to SAG about the same and the authority concerned has failed to act upon the same.”

GFA had booked the Agassaim ground with SAG on August 16, to host their GFA league matches which were scheduled at the venue from September 3. While the Third Division League matches at the same venue will begin from September 20.

However, due to non-playable conditions, GFA had to postpone the initial four league matches which were supposed to begin from Sept 3 to further date due to the non playable ground conditions and also highlighted the same in their letter to SAG Executive Director V M Prabhudessai on Sept 3. Now with their second match being called off due to the poor ground conditions, GFA has written once again to SAG regarding the problem they are facing in conducting the league matches.

It’s been learnt that the ground comes under the wing of SAG and the authority had employed men to maintain the same.

When tried to contact SAG Executive Director, VM Prabhudessai was not reachable for his comment.
