The King’s School, Sunshine Worldwide School excel

MARGAO: The King’s School (TKS) beat Sunshine Worldwide School 1-0 and emerged champions of the U-13 Futsal Tournament in girls category, organised by Goa CBSE Schools Sahodaya under the aegis of the newly formed Futsal Association of Goa (FAG).

While in the boy’s tournament, Sunshine Worldwide School, Old Goa piped The King’s School 2-1 to bag the trophy.

For Sunshine World Wide School both goals scored were scored by Venkatesh Vinod, while for The King’s School, the lone goal was scored by Cyrus Gomes. Kiyoshi Fernandes scored the lone goal for The King’s School.

The tournament was organised by FAG wherein The King’s School from Salcete, Sunshine Worldwide School from Old Goa, Mount Litera Zee School and Bhartiya Bhavan’s School from Vasco, Green Meadows School from Bardez, Fr. Agnel Central School from Pilar and Vidya Vikas Academy from Margao participated in the event.

 A total of 19 games were played in the league stage and two semi-finals and finals each were played in the boys and girls tournament at Chowgule College, Margao futsal facilities.

The entire day was a success for the CBSE schools in Goa at their first inter-school Futsal Tournament and had the presence of FAG President and Ex-Velim MLA Benjamin Silva who gave away the prizes in the presence of FAG Vice President Melvin Pereira, FAG Technical Director Charlton and FAG officials Nagesh Karpani and Wilfred besides the presence of TKS staff and coaches who organized the tournament.

This was a U-13 futsal tournament with the compulsion of having to play a player from the U-7, U-9 and U-11 in each of the three quarters of each match.

Trophies for best performances were given towards the end as follows:

Best defender (boys): Risshi  Tipnis (Sunshine Worldwide School); Best defender (girls): Yolanda Gomes (Sunshine Worldwide School); Best goalkeeper (boys): Sneyden Dias (Vidya Vikas Academy); Best goalkeeper (girls): Adithi Shetty (The King’s School); U-7 Boys emerging player: Samuel Fernades (Green Meadows School); U-7 Girls emerging player: Da Silva Emma (The King’s School); U-9 Boys emerging player: Aloysius Fernandes (The King’s School); U-9 Girls emerging player: Sanika Khodankar (Sunshine Worldwide School); U-11 Boys emerging player: George Pillai (Green Meadows School); U-11 Girls emerging player: Poorva Jamodkar (The King’s School); player of the tournament (boys): Ramnath  Parab (Sunshine Worldwide School); player of the tournament (girls): Kiyoshi Fernandes (The King’s School); Fair Play award (boys): Mount Litera Zee School; Fair play (girls):Green Meadows School.
