PANJIM: Goan defender Michel Margaret Castanha and striker Karishma Purushottam Shirvoikar have been selected for the Senior Women’s National Football camp in preparation for the AFC Asian Women’s Championship 2022.
The residential camp will be held in Goa from December 1, 2020 to January 15, 2021.
GFA President Churchill Alemao congratulated the two Goan girls for being selected among the 30 probables and exhorted them to put in their best with dedication, sacrifice and hard work so that they raise the bar and earn a place in the final India squad for the AFC Championship. “It is a proud moment for Goan women’s football,” Churchill stated.
Karishma had played for PVC Parra in the Vendata Women’s League while Michel had donned the colours of Churchill Brothers Women’s team.
Gregory D’Souza, General Secretary of PVC Parra and GFA Executive Committee Member was ecstatic that a footballer from a small village club from Parra, Karishma had earned a place in the India camp.
