RAIA: In an electrifying showdown at Vodlemoll ground, Kakoda, United Club of Verna showcased their dominance, registering a resounding 4-0 victory against Ambelim Sports Club to secure a spot in the semi-finals of 26th Holy Cross inter-village football tournament.
The first half saw both teams engaged in a spirited battle, with UC Verna launching relentless attacks. It was in the 18th minute that Nevil’s skillful maneuvering past two defenders culminated in a precision shot, granting UC Verna a crucial 1-0 lead.
Ambelim Sports Club fought fiercely but struggled to find the equaliser, heading into halftime with United Club of Verna in the lead.
As the second half commenced, Ambelim Sports Club missed a golden opportunity, sending the ball soaring over the crossbar. UC Verna capitalised on their opponent’s misfortune, with Agnel netting two goals in quick succession in the 46th and 53rd minute, further bolstering United Club of Verna's lead.
With victory within grasp, Nevil sealed the deal just before the final whistle, delivering a finely executed shot that left Ambelim Sports Club’s goalkeeper powerless to intervene.
