MARGAO: Vasco United FC beat Cortalim Gymkhana by 10 goals to 3 to emerge champions of GFA U-13 league Mormugao taluka, played at the panchayat ground, Chicalim.
Judah Fernandes, their star player, scored 5 goals while Aradya Naik and Affna Lala Shah scored 2 goals each, Athan Fernandes scored 1 goal for Vasco United FC who remained undefeated in the league and got 19 points. Sanjiv Kullu scored a brace and, Mavino Xavier reduced the margin for Cortalim Gymkhana.
In the second match of the day which had high stakes as both teams had chance to qualify, Benfica Youth Club powered by their evergreen founder Bernadinho Velho held Betalbatim Sporting Club, 2-2. The teams were 1-1 at half time. Vawn Ferrao and hardworking Jovalinson scored for Betalbatim while Zenidade Correia and Sauskrut Shetgaocar scored for Benfica Youth Club.
In another match, CAC Cansaulim drew with Baina Sports Club 1-1. Baina were leading by goal scored by Mohammad Nadaf at half time.
In the second half Amogh Mishra brought in the equalizer for CAC Cansaulim.
In another match, Ace Soccer Academy SCC defeated Rising Star SCC by 9 goals to nil. Ace were leading 4-0 at half time. Star striker Mathias Rodrigues scored 4 goals including a hat trick while Jairus Rodrigues, Svanik Pednecar, Sheehan Arlorncar (2), Kartik Nayak scored the other goals.
