FATORDA: Velsao Sports and Cultural Club defeated Sesa FA 10-9 via the tie-breaker in the Goa Police Cup football tournament, played at Artificial turf, Fatorda, on Saturday.

FATORDA: Velsao Sports and Cultural Club defeated Sesa FA 10-9 via the tie-breaker in the Goa Police Cup football tournament, played at Artificial turf, Fatorda, on Saturday.

Both teams started the match on the forefront as Clifton Rebello took control of the ball from Oilex Oliveira, dribbled past a couple of defenders and shot from the top of the box but the keeper was equal to the task in the very 2nd minute. 

At the other hand , Sesa FA player Ryan Fernandes should have netted but the latter’s powerdrive shot hit the side netting.

The opening goal was scored by Darren Estebeiro with an arrow bond shot off Anthony Cardozo assist in the 26th minute. It was Manjunath Rathod who equalised for Sesa FA by header off Anil Chawan’s cross in the 36th minute. 

In the second half, Sesa FA nearly found the match winner as substitute Leishram Heteri delayed shot went to waste.

In the resultant penalty shoot-out, Velsao SCC proved to be the better shooters.
