PANJIM: In a nail-biting thriller, Verna Industries Association grabbed the victory from the jaws of defeat by outlasting the spirited team of Goa Police by 6 runs in the final to clinch the GCCI Alliance Cup Cricket Cup 2024 played at Panjim Gymkhana ground, Campal-Panjim, on Sunday.
This was the second edition of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Alliance Cup cricket tournament.
Verna Industries Association, Goa Police, Goa State Industries Association, Travel and Tourism Association of Goa, Bankers Team (SBI/Nabard/ Goa State Co-op Bank/BOB) and GCCI participated in this one day extravaganza.
The tournament was inaugurated by Manoj Caculo, Pratima Dhond and Manguirish Pai Raiker. The six teams were divided into two groups in a round robin format with the group winners played the final.
GCCI Vice-President Pratima Dhond was the chief guest for the prize distribution ceremong along with Rajesh Dempo, CA Rohan Bhandare, Meet Bhanushali. Director General Sanjay Amonkar and Ambika Dhakenkar co-ordinated the event.
Indian cricket star Mohinder Amarnath was the special invitee.
