AMBORA-CAMORLIM: Verna Veterans pipped Candolim Veterans 1-0 and moved into the final of the Excel Rovers, Loutolim, at Camorlim panchayat ground, on Tuesday.
Marcus Carvalho was the star of the match for Verna with his dribbling and shooting power.
In the second and fourth minutes, Marcus’ power-packed shots hit the Candolim cross bar and went out of play.
Three minutes later, Rosario Carvalho hit the rival goal post and went out of play.
As the match progressed in the second half, Candolim’s Trevor Antao and Shankar Poleykar’s set-pieces should have found the goal but Marcus blocked Trevor’s shot.
It was Francis Colaco who netted the match-winner for Verna Veterans with a placement shot in the 49th minute.
Verna veterans will now meet Fatorda Veterans in the final on Sunday.
