MARGAO: Warriors got the better of Youth Futsal Academy 5-2 in the inaugural match of the 1st Chowgule Sports Centre U-10 Futsal League powered by Nave Marg Foundation and organised by Youth Futsal academy, at Chowgule College futsal court, on Saturday.

MARGAO: Warriors got the better of Youth Futsal Academy 5-2 in the inaugural match of the 1st Chowgule Sports Centre U-10 Futsal League powered by Nave Marg Foundation and organised by Youth Futsal academy, at Chowgule College futsal court, on Saturday. 

Aarav Coutinho scored a brace while Yohann Sousa and Samuel D'souza scored a goal each, the last goal was an own goal while for Youth Futsal Academy David Vaz scored a stunning solo effort and Ethan Borges helped reduce the deficit. Samuel Dsouza was adjudged man-of-the-match.

Match two saw, Loyola HS Margao hit Rosary HS Navelim for a tennis score of 6-1, Sohan Fernandes, the man-of-the-match scored the first hat-trick of the tournament while Fagan Antao and Jonathan Fernandes pitched in with a goal each.

In another match, Perpetual Succour Convent Navelim eventually got the better of Marina English School Verna 4-1 after the scores were 1-1 at the lemon break. Mohammad Sakib Shaikh displayed exceptional dribbling ability and vision as a brace of goals and assists helped his team overcome a stubborn Marina defence. Taufique Fundar also scored a brace for the winners while Melchior got the consolation for Marina.

Manovikas EMS was nicked by Regina Martyrum by 3-2. 

In the final match of the day, Kings school beat St Jude's Betalbatim by 9-2. Ethan D’silva was in scintillating form as he slalomed his way past opponents netting five goals. Aryaman Jain scored a brace while Jeff Barreto and Nash D'costa were the other scorers. Johann Fernandes and Shane Ferrao scored for St Judes.

The man-of-the-match trophies were given away by YFA head Coach Socorro George Vaz, Director of Chowgule Sports Centre Deepa Chowgule, Owner of Goan Warriors Football Club Omkar Vailgankar, Senior Football Coach Mickdom Rebello and The Kings Schools Chairman and Director Melvin and Ligia Pereira.

Earlier, chief guest Dr Celso Fernandes declared the tournament open.
