MAPUSA: Young Boys of Aradi had to wait for the penalty shoot-out as they registered a hard-fought 4-2 win over Saipem to sail into the final of the Candolim inter-ward football tournament, played at Candolim ground, on Wednesday.

Young Boys of Aradi will now meet Murrod Boys in the final.

In an evenly contested match, it was Aradi who had the first chance in the opening minutes of the game, when Mahadev Bandodkar had a very easy chance to score but his shot missed the target narrowly.

Another chance went abegging when Deepak Redkar’s shot sailed inches over to Saipem cross bar in the 38th minute. The teams were tied 0-0 at the break.

In the 45th minute Aradi keeper brought a brilliant save to deny Saipem’s Paul Cardozo from scoring.

With the match ending in a goalless draw the tie breaker was implemented where for Aradi Boys Rakesh Bale, Vinay Pednekar, Sudhir Gawas and Pankaj scored on target while for Saipem colts Rohan and Sanford scored.
