YC Manora, Cuncolim Union play out 1-1 draw

PANJIM: Cuncolim Union and Youth Club Manora played out a hard 1-1 draw in the GENO First Division League organised by Goa Football Association (GFA), played at Ambelim ground, on Monday.

PANJIM: Cuncolim Union and Youth Club Manora played out a hard 1-1 draw in the GENO First Division League organised by Goa Football Association (GFA), played at Ambelim ground, on Monday. 

The Cuncolim team had the upper hand over the opposition and this was evident as they scored the first goal of the evening through John Katti in the 27th minute. Cuncolim Union lead 1-0 at half time. 

Post resumption, Youth Club Manora came out stronger and placed a series of attacks onto the Cuncolim defence and they were finally able to make it all square. Benson Fernandes scored the all important equalizer for the Manora team in the 64th minute. 

 Prompt move from GFA to ensure player’s safety

GFA receives flak for not giving prompt medical attention in cases of injury -- But the injury incident in the GFA First Division match at Ambelim ground on Monday was a different story.

 Goalkeeper S Bose of Cuncolim Union who received a hard tackle on his ribs was immediately rushed to Hospício by the ambulance on duty and was thereafter referred to GMC by the Hospício. Reports from GMC said that after examination by doctors, the player was kept under observation. GFA Women’s committee member Victor Gonsalves was the first to attend to the player. GFA President Elvis Gomes, Secretary Welvin Menezes along with Club officials also visited GMC and assisted in obtaining quick medical attention from GMC.
