At the age of 17, Dayne will be the youngest participant amongst the top senior athletes of Asia and will fight for the two places quota.
Donald Coelho, father of Dayne, an accomplished windsurfer himself, has been the backbone of Dayne’s training regimen, technical and financial support including foreign exposures.
Donald’s good repo with international coaches earned Dayne an opportunity to join in the training camp with the Dutch and the Italian teams in Sardine and Cagliari which was schedule from February 5 to 15 and from February 25 to March 5 respectively.
Unfortunately for Dayne, due to delay in visa approval and despite the effort, was left demotivated because he missed out fifteen days of training in Sardinia which was vital to his preparation.
The son of the soil, Dayne at the age of 17 has created recorded breaking results. He was the first Indian to win an international gold and bronze medal for the country in the sport of windsurfing, dominating the youth class in India for six consecutive years.
Recently, Dayne took part in the senior category and won the gold against the army yachting nod of Mumbai, “mission Olympic wing” Who were preparing for the qualifying event Rio Olympic.
Dayne is pursuing sports even at the cost of academics only in view of bringing glory to the country. Achieving and winning medals at the Olympics, indeed has been a matter of pride for all the nations. Countries have been spending sizeable resources and providing the best facilities par excellence to the top sports personalities for coaching, training, foreign exposures and much more. Dayne promises to put all he has into the sails at Abu Dhabi, despite all the odds.
