August 1st is celebrated as friendship day, on this day several people from different villages came out at Old Goa to pledge that they will fight towards protecting Goa. On Sunday, the youth and several Goans tied friendship bands in order to protect the world heritage site and not to allow any illegalities to come here. Recently, a complaint was filed that an illegal construction was coming up near the St. Cajetan church in old Goa, due which a huge protest was also held. Once again, a silent protest was held on Sunday.
